The World Chess Championship 2014 was a match between the world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) and challenger Viswanathan Anand (India), to determine the World Chess Champion. It was held from 7 to 28 November 2014, under the auspices of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) in Sochi, Russia.

On 23 November 2014 Carlsen retained his title, winning three games, losing one and drawing seven.

*The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and formerly known as Durban 2022, is a multi-sport event where all 70 member territories from the Commonwealth of Nations are expected to compete. Durban, South Africa was awarded the rights to host the games at the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) General Assembly meeting in Auckland, New Zealand on 2 September 2015. It was confirmed on 13 March 2017 that Durban had relinquished the rights to hold the games. It would have marked the first time the games were held in Africa and the second time a Commonwealth republic would have hosted, following Delhi, India in 2010.
The games were set to open on the 18 July 2022, coinciding with the birthday of the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.
