Beauty Pageant or Beauty Contest

»  beauty pageant or beauty contest is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants, although some contests have evolved to also incorporate personality, intelligence, talent, and answers to judges' questions as judged criteria.
»  The term almost invariably refers only to contests for women and girls such as the Big Four international beauty pageants.
»  The Big Four are: Miss Universe, Miss World,  Miss International and Miss Earth

 Miss Universe 
»  Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the Miss Universe Organization.
»  It is held in more than 190 countries worldwide.
» The current  Miss Universe is Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa who was crowned on 26 November 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

 Miss World 
»  The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in1951
» The current Miss World is Manushi Chhillar of India who was crowned on 18 November 2017 in Sanya, China.
 Miss Earth 
» Miss Earth is an annual international environmental-themed beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.
»  Carousel Productions organized and launched the first Miss Earth beauty pageant in 2001 as an international environmental event with the mission of channeling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to actively promote the preservation of the environment.
»  The Miss Earth winner is the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations.
»  It’s headquarter is in Manila, Philippines.
» The current Miss Earth is Karen Ibasco of the Philippines who was crowned on 4 November 2017 in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.

 Contestant Selection in International Beauty Pageant (Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth) 
The national winners are selected by the national franchises. For example in India, Femina Miss India conducts qualifying beauty pageants. Earlier they used to send the winner to Miss Universe and runner up to Miss World. Now they select three winners, one each for Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth.

 Femina Miss India 
»  Miss India' or Femina Miss India is a national beauty pageant in India that annually selects representatives to compete in Miss World.
»  It is organised by Femina, a women's magazine published by The Times Group.
»  The first Miss India was Pramila (Esther Victoria Abraham), from Calcutta, who won in 1947.
»  The current Femina Miss India-2016 is Manushi Chhillar who was crowned by the outgoing Miss India Priyadarshini Chatterjee.
»  Aditi Arya was the Femina Miss India in the year 2015.
